Samantha Hull and Nicole Laird practice their presentation before regionals.

Placing second in Life Event Planning at FCCLA state, April 9-11, juniors Samantha Hull and Nicole Laird will compete in nationals.

“It was really awesome to know our hard work paid off and really exciting,” Hull said. “And also really nerve-racking but it was really good.”

The duo placed first at regionals in Life Event Planning to qualify for state. They went on a field trip to the Austin Zoo with the first graders at Blockhouse Creek Elementary. They then presented all the planning and lesson plans that went into the trip to the judges.

“It was really cute,” Laird said. “Besides the fact that a peacock stole my sandwich, it was a fun trip.”

For nationals, the two will travel to Washington, D.C. this summer, over the Fourth of July.

“We will present to them the same things at nationals and just change a few things,” Laird said. “I’m really excited because I’ve never been for.”
