Romantic at heart

Freshman loves romantic movies even if she’s not sitting next to Mr. Right

Want to know how I spent my Valentine’s Day night? Sitting on my couch, watching Can’t Buy Me Love. And guess what? I’m not bitter about it.

I absolutely love romance/romantic comedy movies. Maybe I like them so much because well, I’m a girl. But there is something that draws me into all romance movies.

Romantic movies usually all end the same way. The guy gets the girl and they live happily ever after, but it’s how they get there that awes me.

I would like to take a moment to thank Nicholas Sparks for writing some of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read, even though I usually watch the movie then the book. Oh, and also thanks for setting up all teenage girls expectations way too high.

Some of my favorite romance movies are Something Borrowed, 50 First Dates and The Last Song. All these movies are so different but in a way all the same. And actually, two of those movies were books before they were movies.

I love the way the story lines make me feel. The first time watching those movies I’m at the edge of my seat, screaming at the TV “Just kiss her already!” And by the second time, I just sit there in love with the characters who fall in love.

I am a rare teenage girl who can watch romance movies and not complain how I don’t have a boyfriend and that I hate love. That’s just not me. So this weekend, I’m perfectly happy sitting on my couch and watching The Notebook.
