More than 300 students were named Rouse Scholars and received a certificate handed to them by Principal John Graham, Wednesday, May 1. The freshman ceremony was at 9 a.m. which was followed by cake and punch. The sophomore ceremony was at 10:30 a.m. and they will have to opportunity later this month to go on the ropes course on campus.
“It was really nice,” sophomore Conor Murphy said. “It was just cool to be recognized for all our hard work. The ropes course is always fun, because I get to step out of my comfort zone.”
The junior ceremony started at 11:30 a.m. and they had a college visit field trip to the University of Texas at San Antonio where they looked at what the campus had to offer and got a taste of the college experience. A total of 321 students were honored in the annual ceremony that recognizes good grades.
“I think they are cool,” junior Shae Standford said. “It’s fun to honor people for their achievements. It was nice to do a college visit and see all of the pros and cons to the different colleges out there.”
