Principal for a Day: Huntington employee shadows AP Brandon Evans

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a principal for a day?

Huntington employee Sherry Huffman got that chance, Nov. 9. Huffman shadowed Assistant Principal Brandon Evans around the campus to learn the life of a principal. Evans stood in for Principal John Graham who was off campus on other business. Huffman and Evans went through some of his typical duties: attending meetings, visiting classrooms for learning walks and observing and monitoring passing periods.

“We thought it was important to get people out to see what the normal school life is of a student,” Evans said. “We plan to continue to do this each year.”

For Huffman, the experience was important for her business.

“I want to create a better business center for the students and learn what the students need from us,” Huffman said. “I would definitely recommend business owners to come here and see what the kids in the communities are like and how they are doing.”

Community leaders that are interested in participating in the Principal for a Day program should contact the district.
