Crowning Moment
With routines taking place in California, Houston, Detroit and even outer space, the Royals and Rhythm Dance Company traveled to Vandegrift High School over the weekend to showcase their wanderlust at the American Dance Contest.
“We worked really hard the past few months to prepare for our contests,” sophomore Royal Colleen Gallagher said. “Our routines took place in different spots across the country, and it’s cool knowing that our theme and choreography brought something different to the table.”
The two teams took the past three months to learn choreography and clean a collection of seven team routines and three class ensembles.
“I was so excited to see what we could showcase at competition,” junior RDC member Emily Nobles said. “I truly love Rhythm, and this year’s team has been so hardworking and has put so much positive energy into our time together.”
The American Contest concluded the contest season for the two teams, but the dancers enjoyed the moments that came from it.
“Our first contest a few weeks ago was successful in many areas and this one was no different,” sophomore Royal Katlin Hernandez said. “I think the judges noticed how much work we’ve put into these dances. We walked out proud as a team, and I loved being able to spend another day with all the Royals doing what we love.”
