Trying It Out

Say Raider!

The cheer program is looking for a student to take on the role of the Raider mascot for the 17-18 school year. Students of any grade and gender are eligible to take on the role of Charley the Raider.

I’d like to have the mascot chosen before school gets out so that he/she can attend summer camp with the cheer program,” cheer coach Meghan Hill said. “They are required to go to camp to  get some training and experience on how to be effective, plus it’s a lot of fun.”

Currently, the process of becoming the mascot is not definite, but he or she will be held to the same standard as all other student athletes, in regards to academics and behavior at school. If any student has interest in being the mascot, they need to email Hill or go to room 1202 to talk with her.

If there is more than one student who in interested, I’ll hold an audition for the role,” Hill said. “The person trying out would be required to put together a short skit to music demonstrating their crowd leading/involvement. It would be great to have some competition for the position.
