The girl’s 1600 meter relay team placed sixth at the state meet May 2 at the University of Texas at Austin. The team consisted of Marissa Nabb, Allison Agbasoga, Adriana Reyes, and Justine Franklin who set a school record of 3:56 in the mile-long race.

“I was so proud of our team,” sophomore Adriana Reyes said.  “We came here and showed how far we’ve come.”

To reach state, the girls won the regional and district championships in the 1600 meter relay. The sixth-place finish at state was the culmination of a strong season with the girl’s team winning 16 awards at district and regionals.

“This has been a really great season, the girls have improved so much from last year and I’m so proud,” coach Kelly Thompson said.
