LISD teachers raised $9,172 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation during the sixth annual Jeans for a Week fundraiser. The funds will grant the wish of sophomore Samantha Yantz, who was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Her wish is to sleep in Cinderella’s Castle at Disney World.
“Ever since I was little, my family went every other year,” Yantz said. “It’s always a fun place to get away and not worry about anything. I can’t wait.”
In addition, enough money was raised to grant the wish of a student from Running Brushy Middle School who has been diagnosed with leukemia.
“I am so excited to see that with our effort and support, all of these children will receive their wish,” Dean of Instruction/Transition Coordinator Debbie Gauna said. “It seems no matter what struggles we are going through, our LISD family is always there to support those in need.”
