The tennis team has started strong this spring with several wins.

At the Marble Falls match, Jan. 31, the team was successful in several matches. In Mixed Double, Cameron McCarthy/Yvonne Kahle and Mason Rutledge/ Michelle Grote won matches. The Boys doubles teams are Zach Yoke/Tucker Hytrek and Sean Carnett/Alex Smith also won matches. In Boys Singles, Tyler Nardecchia won his match.

“I did well because I outplayed my opponents,” sophomore Alex Smith said. “I’m better than I was last year.”

In February, the team placed at two tournaments. At the Westwood tournament Feb. 18, the team took second place. Katarina Givens, Kali Rose, Michelle Grote, Daniele Brown, Londyn Thetford, Tyler Nardecchia and Cameron McCarthy all medaled at the tournaments. 

“I did really well,” sophomore Brooke Hull said. “I had a good partner to depend on. We had good chemistry together.”

At the Hedrickson tournament Feb. 25, the team took second place. Kali Rose, Katarina Givens, Brook Hull, Yusuf Barnes, Tyler Nardecchia, Cameron McCarthy, Michelle Grote, Yvonne Yahle, Danielle Brow, Londyn Thetford, Mason Rutledge, Sean Carnett, Alex Smith and Eliciana Delgado all placed at the tournament.

“I’m very please with how my team has played so far,” coach Michael Hjort said. “We struggled in district matches, but did well in tournaments.”
