MUN travels to conference

The Model United Nations club went on a three day trip to San Antonio this past week for a conference to meet and compete with other students. It was an opportunity for club members to represent their assigned country.
“Rouse was representing South Sudan at the event,” junior club member Cierra George said. “At the conference we discussed the international relations of all of the different countries and specific issues in those countries.”
The six students that attended the conference from Rouse not only discussed and debated, but they got the opportunity to make friends with students outside of Texas.
“Students from all over the world came together for the event, and each school was ready to represent a different country,” George said. “We got to meet many new students who were interested in the same things as we were. It was neat.”
As students learned about how government works and improved their understanding of the implementation of laws, they enhanced the skills they will use at their next conference in Houston.
“Our main goal was to draft resolutions on how to solve certain world issues,” George said. “I’m looking forward to the next conference in February.”
