Habesha, an Ethiopian restaurant in Austin, gives you the opportunity to experience Ethiopian food. We had no silverware to help us eat it, but if you don’t like other people touching your food, they are more than happy to supply you with a fork. The atmosphere was welcoming and the service was great. The waiter recommended several different dishes to try. We ordered beg tibs (lamb) and Habesha special tibs, which is beef cubes sautéed with onions, bell peppers, jalapenos and rosemary. We also had missir wot (spicy lentil stew), sambusa and tilapia and ate it family style. The food was amazing. The chef put in just the right amount of spices and the meat was tender and cooked at the right temperature. The only thing that we struggled with was it wasn’t enough food for five people. It was also really expensive (about $13 for each meat and fish dish) so it might be better for a date night or small group.
