Natalie Erzal, Staffer

Natalie Erzal is a senior staffer on the Raider Rumbler Newspaper. This is her first year contributing to the newspaper, expanding her knowledge and opportunities in journalism. Natalie strives to expand her storytelling through her audio/visual production background. She works with PBS Student Reporting Labs to share young audience’s perspectives on the upcoming election. Natalie enjoys listening to music, writing, working with cameras, and hanging out with her friends in her free time. Through her love of film, Natalie hopes to use her skills to understand a deeper development of the world and hopes to establish herself in the media world.

Campus technologist Scott Robertson types away on his computer in the Tech Room of the Raider Library. Robertson has been working at the school since 2008, the year of its opening, and has seen its students through major changes such as the pandemic. “I think that COVID was a catalyst that made us have to go completely online,” Robertson said. “We were not prepared as a technology department for the weight of COVID. I was in parking lots handing out laptops to kids so that we could go on Zoom. Everything was just suddenly online.”

A variety of signs advocating for various policies on display. In the days leading up to the election, the community advocated for their desired local candidates and bills by advertising them outside of early voting locations.  
“I would say one of the big [misconceptions] is that big elections are the only ones that matter, AP Macroeconomics teacher Megan Pilewski said. “I think that so much is decided on a state and local level that affects you on a day-to-day basis.”
