What’s your role as captain?

Nathan Puckett: We can talk to referees if something’s going but you have to approach that with care and other than that it’s keeping the players cool and keep control of the game.
Jacob Alger: It’s a lot off the court, a large part is accountability and that we are growing together and we are getting better. We are supposed to improve the team and they are supposed to improve us.
Mackenzie West: On the court, I’m like a player coach, so people come to me to me when they need help with a play and stuff, and they can look to me as a safety off the court as well for personal or school problems.
Kaleigh Norte: We also talk to refs about bad calls and stuff and off the court we get the team to bond together as a family and to unite as one unit.

How is the season going?

Puckett: We are doing really well with an 8-2 record and we just got a big win against Denton Guyer, the 6A Dallas team.
Alger: We are getting along pretty well, as a team we are playing for each other and that has given us a few good wins, we are playing hard and that is all we can ask for.
West: It’s going really good, we have gone against a tough pre-season, so we have had some losses but it has made us stronger. And even though we lost the first district game, we will make a big comeback.
Norte: Most people think we are the underdogs, but I think we will surprise a lot of people this year. Because I know that all of our hard work and practice will really pay off in the end.

What are your expectations for the season?

Puckett: The ultimate goal is to make it to playoffs in this new harder district.
Alger: We are supposed to do pretty well, but it’s really about who’s coming to every game and if we play hard enough or not. So a prediction is hard to make.
West: We have a really hard district this year and since it is our first year in 6A we really want to show people that we aren’t the underdog and that we can do good.
Norte: I think we can get the fourth spot in playoffs and show everyone wrong.

What will be the toughest district game?

Puckett: For us, I would say Pflugerville because they are always really good and tall.
Alger: Every team is going to be a challenge, but the toughest will probably be Pflugerville or McNeil.
West: Every team is going to be really hard in this new district, but more specifically Cedar Ridge.
Norte: Cedar Ridge because they have a girl committed to UT.
