FFA chapter competes at district contest

Six teams place in the top 10, one moves on to the area contest

The FFA Senior Chapter Conducting team advanced to area by placing second at the Cen-Tex District LDE contest, Tuesday, Nov. 11. Five other Raider FFA Chapter teams also placed in the top 10.

“All of the teams did really well,” adviser Shelly Salazar said. “They worked hard, came together and did their best- they all were absolutely amazing. I am so proud of them.”

The Senior Chapter Conducting team consists of sophomore Alyssa Jingling, senior Jonathan Watson, sophomore Nick Reale,  junior Luke Sackett, sophomore Caleb Wilson, senior Taylor Nelson, sophomore Caleb Corbell, junior Meagan Hammond and junior Katie Hebdon. A chapter conducting, or parliamentary procedures, team performs a mock FFA meeting in front of a panel of judges. The area contest is at Blanco High School Wednesday, Nov. 19.

“I felt so excited when they called second place,” senior Jonathan Watson said. “We get to move on to Area, and I’m so glad we get the opportunity to advance in the competition. Being on a team has really brought us all closer as friends.”
