Junior golfer breaks individual school record
November 6, 2014
Only two strokes short of a school record, the varsity boys golf took fourth at the Hays Invitational Monday, Oct. 6. Junior Ross Carpenter led the team the way with a low round of 76, only one stroke off the individual school record.
“I played really well, but I didn’t know, I just didn’t do good enough,” Carpenter said. “Not breaking the record at Hays didn’t bother me too much. I knew I was pretty close anyways. I knew I could get in the near future.”
More recently at the Burnet Invitational Oct. 17-18, Carpenter shattered the previous school record for an individual round. Carpenter shot a one-under-par 71 in the first round to surpass the 4-year old record by four strokes.
“I’m actually really confident in my game. The team is looking great right now,” Carpenter said. “I think we’ll break the team record, consistently. We have amazing players, and they’re all playing really well right now.”
