Turkey Drive

The annual Turkey Drive sponsored by Student Council kicks off, Nov. 3. Advocate classes are encouraged to participate in the drive that runs through Nov. 18.

The Turkey Drive is a food drive collecting non-perishables and canned foods for the Hill Country Community Ministries in hopes that a family who may not be able to afford Thanksgiving dinner this year can still have one.

“I think it’s important that we help people who cannot afford Thanksgiving because we have a lot to be thankful for,” senior Katie Grady said. “The Turkey Drive is a good way for us as students to make a difference for people who need the help.”

Among the items to be collected are stuffing boxes, gravy, instant mashed potatoes, Jell-O and canned green beans. Student Council will provide decorated boxes for each Advocate class participating in the drive.

“I’m so excited for the drive because it’s a great way to help out others who don’t get to experience Thanksgiving like other families,” sophomore Rachel O’Brien said. “It’s such a great way to make an impact and help out and provide to those families with food.”
