Love takes center stage for fall show
October 14, 2014
The theatre department will perform Big Love as their fall show. The production is a modern take on a Greek play, telling the tale of 50 runaway brides who flee Italy to avoid marrying their cousins.
“The show is about learning to navigate the tumultuous waters of relationships and love – the good, the bad and certainly, the ugly,” Theatre Director Stephanie Smith said.
Expect to see more than a few wedding gowns and some other interesting twists.
“It’s a really interesting show,” senior Taylor Criswell said. “It’s new and fresh. It’s more of an ensemble instead of just one or two people leading. It has tomatoes, plates; it’s messy and there is murder.”
More than 28 students are part of the cast and crew, a mixture of veterans and newcomers. The students have been rehearsing for the last few weeks for the dramatic comedy performance.
“It’s really funny,” senior Tanner Parker said. “There’s a lot of really dramatic moments too so you’ll get a good mixture of everything.”
The performances are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased in the theatre office (room 5305) or in the R before school.
“We always do our best with every single performance,” Parker said. “It’s going to be a great show.”
