Dean Winchester, who is a demon in season 10, spends quite a bit of time singing bad karaoke in the first episode.

The Dean-mon has arrived and boy, is he something else. At the end of last season, Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) was stabbed and killed by Metatron (whoops, spoiler alert) and later awakened by Crowley (Mark Sheppard) as a demon.

Season 10 begins with tones of Sam (Jared Padalecki) from season six with the merciless torture of a demon in the hopes of gaining information on the whereabouts of his brother. Meanwhile, Dean is gallivanting about with Crowley, drinking too much beer and singing horrid karaoke. During this Castiel (Misha Collins) continues to worsen from his lost grace. While beginning with innocent undertones, the darker side of Demon Dean shows more and more as the episode continues, as the mark of Cain still needs to be sated. Things continue to worsen when rogue angels, followers of Abaddon, and an unforgiving and unfeeling Dean are thrown into the mix.

Overall, the season has started fairly interesting although a heavy reliance on past seasons is placed upon the show. It’s impressive that through nine seasons, the creators have remained creative, although everyone seems to die or go soulless at some point. The angels add an interesting side to the story as Castiel begins to show more appreciation and understanding of the human world which starkly contrasts the other angels’ perspectives. All in all, it’s an interesting start to season 10, I can only hope that this isn’t a revisit to soulless Sam in Dean’s shoes.
