DON’T RAIN ON MY PARADE
Annual Homecoming parade set for 6:45 p.m.
September 17, 2014
Note: The Homecoming Parade will continue rain or shine unless there is any lightning.
The 2014 Homecoming parade is Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 6:45 p.m.
“I’m really excited about seeing the whole school come together for the parade,” sophomore Student Council member Ashtyn Thomas said. “I think this will be the best parade yet.”
General parking will be in the RHS parking lot, with the Wiley parking lot reserved for parade floats only. Parade participants will need to be dropped off at the school and walk down to Wiley for the start of the parade. StuCo recommends students and parents bring their own lawn chairs to sit along the parade route.
StuCo expects more than 30 floats and 30 vehicles, including several from Sweet Rides of Texas, to be part of the parade. The Homecoming court will be part of the parade as well as RNN, Theatre, Swim, Wrestling, FCA and Key Club.
“Theatre has decided to do a pirate ship float,” senior thespian Tanner Parker said. “It’s really exciting to have a way to exhibit Theatre’s talent and creativity.”
Following the parade at the football practice fields, the senior court will be recognized and the duke and duchesses announced (see list of nominees below). After, varsity baseball will hold their annual car bash. Students can pay a fee to take swings at the beat up car.
