Hazel Grace (Shailene Woodley) attends a cancer support group, because she’s diagnosed with cancer and a new boy named Gus (Ansel Elgort) catches her eye. Gus and Hazel fall in love and experience a long journey of memories together. In the trailer Hazel Grace is narrating at the beginning, so it gives the viewers her point of view through her inner thoughts. The music played in the movie trailer causes you to encompass a bitter-sweet type of feeling. The trailer explains much of the plot line from when Hazel and Gus meet, and their journey together with their love for one another. This trailer has a great way of gravitating people toward the movie, because it causes viewers to build different types of emotions towards the movie. Watching the trailer creates a content feeling because of the unconditional love they express for one another, but it also shows scenes where it seems as if Hazel is trying to overcome her struggle against cancer. I have the feeling that this movie will be a bitter-sweet type of movie. – Kierra Rocio

The world’s most famous monster is reborn in this remake of the 1954 film. The trailer features soldiers skydiving from an aircraft. The giant lizard is only seen twice. Most of the trailer is from the point of view of one soldier. The visual effects are well done, and seeing through the eyes of the one person almost makes me feel the anticipation of falling through the cloud of smoke and debris. This trailer was made nicely because it pulled me in with its mysterious yet still exciting tone, without giving away much of the plot at all. The only problem I had with this trailer was that there was not enough dialogue. – Briannah Hunt

Maleficent
Walt Disney Pictures
PG
May 30
In Maleficent, the untold story of the villain from Sleeping Beauty is revealed. The trailer features a lot of high quality graphics and a lot of action between good and evil. The song “Once Upon a Dream” sung by Lana Del Rey in the background adds to the dark and chilling undertone. A good thing about this trailer was that it didn’t give away too much of the plot. Another thing that I liked was the fact that Maleficent herself was shown frequently. Angelina Jolie is stunning, and seeing her as the famous villain makes me excited to see this movie. Some people think this movie will be too dark for Disney, but I think it’s right up my alley. – Briannah Hunt

X-Men: Days of Future Past
PG-13
May 23
In an effort to save the future, The X-Men send Logan, the Wolverine, into the past to change the history Charles Xavier and Magneto made that could result in the end of
destruction of both humans and mutants. The trailer gives a good idea of what is expected in the movie. Bringing together the past and future Charles and Eric sounds like an interesting idea and story to see. With the dramatic music enhancing the suspension and drawing the viewer to the edge of their seat, it will surely bring in the money on opening night. The graphic are pretty well done but are probably over done. – Jaci Chavera

The phenomenon is back! 22 Jump Street is the sequel to 21 Jump Street, but in this movie they are attending college in order to catch their bad guy. They have to go through many college activities such as parties, football, and classes, in order to catch their guy. The main characters stayed the same, which is a promise for a hilarious, action packed movie. The trailer is worth watching, and it definitely shows the humor and action of the movie. The music in the trailer also shows the humorous atmosphere of how the movie will be. The movie trailer shows that the movie itself will probably be pretty. – Alanah Eddleman

They explore and find an ice cave, filled with a mysterious Dragon Rider and new dragon species. When the peace is threatened by Drago Bludvist and his dragon army, Hiccup and Toothless must work together to save the future of Vikings and dragons. The visual effects look great, the music sounds crystal clear, and it looks like a wonderful sequel to How to Train Your Dragon. The trailer shows exciting clips of fighting and excitement, without giving away too much. With just the right mix of humor and action, How to Train Your Dragon looks like it will be a hit. – Cami Chamberlain

Transformers: Age of Extinction
Paramount Pictures
PG-13
June 27
An automobile mechanic and his daughter find something that brings the transformers back along with new Dinobots and the exciting battle between good and evil continues. Filled with action, drama, and a lot of cars, Transformers: Age of Extinction looks exactly like all the other Transformers movies, but with a new cast. With lots of explosions, lots of guns, and lots of yelling, this movie won’t be anything special. The music sounds alright, and the visual effects look decent, but other than that, this trailer has absolutely no appeal. Just face it: the Transformers hype is so 2007. – Cami Chamberlain

Lt. Col. Bill Gage (Tom Cruise) wakes up on his luggage at the military base and is told his new batch of recruits for war is here. The earth is currently at war with an alien race. On the last day of battle, Cruise is killed but his life doesn’t end there. He wakes up back at the base and is stuck in a time loop on the last day of war. His only hope seems to be a woman (Emily Blunt) who has gone through the same thing. The soundtrack throughout the trailer contributes to the chaotic tone. Quick images of him dying, and waking up are quickly flashed to give the audience a taste of what is going to happen. This movie seems like a real mind bender due to the inception-like concept. – Zack Ramirez
