Everyone has a hobby or collection, from shoes to toys. I collect antiques and Coca-Cola memorabilia. It all started when one night I watched a whole season of American Pickers watching everything that they would buy or see. It fascinated me because everything was so old and it was just so amazing.

The next day I went to an antique store downtown and found an old typewriter for only $10. It was my first antique and after that I was hooked. Each week over the summer I seemed to gain another antique. From bottles to cameras, I just couldn’t get enough. I was just so amazed that all these things have survived in the condition that they were in for how long they have been around.

Every day I would go and study everything I got, looking up on the internet if they are rare or valuable. Each thing I would look when and where it was made and it would always amaze me of how old the items were and where they came from. After a month of collecting I visited my grandmother and noticed a rare 25th anniversary Walmart Coke bottle that only the workers received. I told her about my collecting and she gave me the bottle which has never been opened. After that I made sure to look for Coca-Cola items when I go to the shops, enjoying all the Coke items they had,  all of them so different and rare.

My collection has grown so big that it has taken over my room, most of the antiques I have are either bottles or Coca-Cola memorabilia or other kinds of antiques. My room has turned into a museum with things from early 1900s to now with everything from record players to phones.

I was so proud of my collection that I even got my brother to start collecting antique Coke items.  I now own at least 50-60 different bottles, but not all of them are Coke; they are just random antiques like medicine to condiments but they’re all empty and cleaned (except for the Coke ones). I also have two record players and 30 different albums, my favorite is a Beatles’ album cover. I own signs, cards, bottles, typewriters, records and more. But I’m not done. I plan for my collection to get bigger and bigger over the years because I’m just getting started.
