It’s not her Fault
Sophomore prefers John Green’s earlier book Looking for Alaska over beloved newer novel, The Fault in Our Stars

John Green, author of the award-winning novel, The Fault in Our Stars is the most talked about author in teen fiction today hands down. TFIOS would have to be his most read novel by young adult readers in my opinion and from the reviews, but would I say it’s his best work?
Absolutely not.
When you hear the name John Green, most cliché teenagers would automatically think of TFIOS, but no, no, no not me. His earliest novel, Looking for Alaska is by far the winner in my opinion. Indeed, I do love TFIOS too, but it doesn’t sway me like Looking for Alaska does.
Alaska Young, a rebellious teen at boarding school, is the main character of this uplifting novel. She is also the character who made John Green’s career come to life. Over and over again she would talk about your “life being like a labyrinth, you can never escape.” It is the line everyone around the world praises her for.
The reason John Green is so loved throughout by over-obsessed teenagers is because of his use of language, his metaphors to be exact. He warms all our hearts in his sickening love comedies, yet still has the skills to fuse together some life lessons into his eminent writing. I am guilty for this too, his books make me begging for more, and when my head is not in one of his books I swear, I go through withdrawal. Undeniably, his other three books are just as prodigious, but Looking for Alaska will always be the incomparable hero in my heart.
