JOBS: Tracy Corbin, Chick-Fil-A

A moat of vehicles wrap around the building, two rows of cars pulling up to the double drive thru and then merging into one lane. As they round the corner past the playground, two workers become visible outside the pick-up window. They greet customers at their cars, taking money and credit cards and returning with orders and a smile.

One of those employees is senior Tracy Corbin, who’s been working at Chick-fil-A since September.

“I started to get tired of having a life,” Corbin said. “So I decided that I needed a job.”

Working at the fast-food restaurant in 1890 Ranch means Corbin has a number of responsibilities. She works the register, helps cook food and cleans up after customers. On busy days, she helps man the drive thru, standing on the outside of the restaurant to hand out orders.

Even on busy days, Corbin enjoys her job, but acknowledges there are some drawbacks.

“The type of customers I hate the most is the one who have been having a bad day already,” Corbin said. “They lash out on you for it. But we try to make them happy by giving them good food.”

With the restaurant only a few miles from the school, Corbin works with several other RHS students. She said the friendly environment has helped her feel comfortable.

“The coolest thing about working there is getting to know the people,” Corbin said. “My best friend there is Rebecca. She is really funny and she’s kind of like a mom to me, I feel like I can do no wrong in her eyes.”

The laidback atmosphere makes the senior enjoying going to work.

“It’s like a party every day,” Corbin said.
