10 FCCLA students qualify for state

Ten students qualified for state at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America regional competition Jan. 31-Feb. 1in Corpus Christi.
Seniors Kennedy Brown and Ashtyn Phillips took first place in the National Programs in Action Senior Division.
“[It was] awesome, our project was incredible,” Phillips said. “We really had the opportunity to help a lot of homeless with our project and it was a very rewarding experience.”
Donovan Carrasco, Taylor Ellner and Alex Harvey finished second in the In the Chapter Service Portfolio Senior Division while Ivy Gutierrez, Chloe Hall and Sydney Schuetzeberg were second in the Focus on Children Occupational Specific Division. Lora Mokry and Jessy Reyes took fifth in the Illustrated Talk Senior Division.
In addition, the Culinary team members, Lydia Gamboa, Courtney Gibbs and Isabel Soto, were offered $1000 scholarships to the Escoffier Culinary School if they choose to enroll there.
The FCCLA students will compete at state April 10-12 in Corpus Christi.
