For the second year in a row, Student Council encouraged the holiday spirit with Thanksgiving in a Box. Students were asked to contribute non-perishable food and Thanksgiving items for Hill Country Community Ministries. The idea was that a family would come to the food pantry during the week of Thanksgiving and take home fixings for a nice Thanksgiving dinner.
Seventh period classes donated 1,250 pounds in Thanksgiving items and more than $200 in HEB gift cards for the annual food drive. The food items included more than 200 cans of green beans, 120 cans of sweet potatoes, 80 boxes of Jello and 40 pie crusts.
βI loved helping out,β sophomore Blu DeVanon said. βIt was so much fun getting to make hand turkeys and decorate our boxes.β
