New club opens for business after the holidays

Mondays are about to become a lot more fun.

Senior Victoria Wilson created a new club, Monday Funday, to instill a more social and friendly school experience.

“I made the club because at Raider Camp when all of the freshmen came up, they seemed scared,” Wilson said. “I wanted to start an organization where we could include them and mentor them.”

Monday Funday is literally a club for making friends. Students that struggle with making friends, really have a club that they can call theirs or students who just don’t know the school and want friends can all come together for fun and games every Monday that is a B-Day.

“The idea is that you’re having students like eighth grade cheerleaders getting to meet high school cheerleaders,” Wilson said. “We want to include all groups like football, band, soccer and dance team in it to make it better.”

At club meetings, students will play fun games such as ping pong while getting to know one another. The club will also hold parties for all holidays to celebrate and bond with one another. As the year progresses, students will make friends, be part of a club, and will have fun all at the same time.

“My goal is to have role models for the incoming freshmen next year so they’ll always have at least one person they can come to for help,” Wilson said.

As well as fun, games and friendship, the Monday Funday club hopes to travel to middle schools in order to get new recruits from the eighth graders soon to be freshmen. By doing this, the club will continue to stay alive and many more people will continue to make great friends.

“I’m excited because I really want to start a tradition of mentoring the incoming freshmen,” Wilson said. “I want to start a club that’s not only fun but inspiring for anyone in the school to help make friends while interacting with different groups and organizations and grades.”
