Dental dilemmas: simple cavity turns into multiple dentist appointments, a lot of pain and one giant bill

A dentist appointment here, oh, and another one there, too.

It just seems like this train of appointments is never ending for me. This has been going on for months now. Not days, or weeks, but months. I have had nonstop dentist appointments since April and it seems every time I go, there are more problems. There’s just madness that’s ensuing in my mouth.

All this originally started with a simple cavity, that turned into a root canal, that turned into an infection, which turned into dental surgery, and you know what, I have yet another appointment with the dentist to see if I’m actually okay. I’m beyond fed up with dentists poking and prodding my mouth with needles and files and other stupid dental instruments that I can’t even name.

Let’s not mention the cost of this mess. The first dentist that worked on this “peculiar case” as she called it, killed my tooth in an attempt to fill a cavity, then she turned around and tried a root canal (something she wasn’t certified for) and she screwed that up, too. Just these two visits cost me $1200.

Next, she referred me to a special dentist with the title ‘endodontist’ so he could fix my root canal…for $500. All of the appointments I’ve had since have been a series of “Well, I don’t know what else I can do” and “This might hurt for a few weeks,” and therefore haven’t cost me any money –yet. The grand total, getting everyone up to date on this “dental work” is $1700.

I know, the big question is why didn’t I take care of my teeth? Well, I did. I’m a spaz about my teeth ever since quite a few bad dentist appointments in my childhood, but some people’s teeth are just prone to cavities.

Assuming I am one of those special people, all I can do now is seal my teeth to prevent cavities then floss, brush and swish three to four times a day. Hopefully, I don’t have any more dental dilemmas for the rest of my life.
