What’s it like working at a new school?
It’s really fun, it’s really exciting, and most of the students and teachers have been real helpful. So it’s been a good first [few] weeks so far.
What expectations do you have for the season?
To go back to state, and place well in districts and regionals.
What steps are you guys taking to make sure those expectations come true?
We practice every day, with swim workouts and dry land practices.
How long have you been coaching?
I have been coaching since I was 15.
What event are you most looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to districts, because it’s the first event that we start competing at a higher level.
Who do you think your toughest opponent is?
Round Rock, because they have always been a big team and my old high school coach still works there, so there’s kind of a rivalry there.
What’s different about this team than any other team that you have been a part of?
Everybody really gets along well, there are no cliques or separate groups within the team.
Is there anyone on the team that stands out to you?
Lindsay Grafe, she’s a manager, and she’s been excellent. And Josiah Bonner, he is a freshman with little swim experience and so far he has been great.
What’s the coolest part about being a first year coach at a new school?
Getting to know everyone and building on an already successful program.
