TAKS is dead – forever.
The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills test has officially been replaced by the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness as of this year, ending an era of testing. The junior class, students graduating in 2014, is the last class to take the TAKS test which wrapped up Thursday.
“I didn’t like being subjected to taking the STARR without knowing about it first,” junior Allison McCloud said. “The TAKS is just a better test and is easier to understand.”
The final TAKS tests were completed by juniors April 23-25. The tests completed this week were Math, Science and Social Studies. Freshmen and sophomores have already begun their STARR testing and will complete all of their tests in May.
