The 2012 Replay won a Gold Crown from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, Friday, March 22. The award was issued for the outstanding writing, editing, design and production of the 2012 yearbook which had the theme “It’s About Time.”
“It was an incredible honor just to be a finalist,” adviser Kel Lemons said. “When they announced we won gold, I was stunned and the editors couldn’t hold back their tears. It’s a testament to how hard they worked last year to produce a great yearbook for the school.”
Only 57 high school yearbooks from around the country were named finalists for the national award, and 23 received Gold Crowns, the highest award given to a student publication. Nine yearbook staffers attended CSPA’s spring convention in New York City and went to the ceremony to pick up the award.
“When I found out we won gold, I was so shocked, we were set on silver,” assistant editor-in-chief Haley Rodriguez said. “It was such a great accomplishment, and I loved being in New York with my staff.”
