STATE OF MIND: Four swimmers talk about state meet

With four swimmers competing at the state meet this Friday and Saturday, we asked their thoughts about the upcoming meet.

What does state mean to you?

 “There’s a lot of pressure, but I’m just really excited to be going back for the third year in a row.”

 “It means that all of the hard work paid off.”

 “Some of the best swimmers in all of Texas and I’ll get to see some of my old friends.”

 “It’s just pretty exciting and a privilege to go.”

Are you doing anything before your race for good luck?

“A lot of the swimmers are coming down to watch finals and we’re having a team dinner this week. Their support is really appreciated.”

 “We’re having a little pot luck dinner. With lasagna and stuff like that.”

“I tell everyone good luck, then I hop around like crazy to get my heart rate up.”
