Four students placed at the Round Rock UIL Academic meet, Jan. 26.
Two students placed in two contests with senior Rachel Sloan taking fourth in News Writing and fifth in Prose, and senior Christina Gatti placing fifth in both Literary Criticism and Ready Writing.
“It was a hard competition,” Gatti said. “The prompts were really hard and the test was hard, but it was fun to just express yourself.”
Senior Danton Waggoner also placed in Ready Writing, taking fourth and senior Brianna Rood was fifth in Poetry.

“I expected to place a little bit better,” Waggoner said. “But it’s kind of like Russian roulette when you go in there, because you don’t know what topic you’re going to get.”
