Tennis wraps up fall season with strong finish, awards

The junior varsity and varsity team has had athletes play well at several recent tournaments.

At the junior varsity match against Pflugerville Oct. 26, the team won 22 of 24 matches. Alyssa Williams, Larissa Yorgan, Bryson King, Trent Riek and Joshua Watson clinched their first tennis victories during the match.

On Nov. 1, the JV team played in the Pflugerville tournament. Seniors Alex Smith and Brooke Hull made it to the semifinals in the A-Singles Draw, while sophomore Chelsea Daws finished second in the consolation bracket.

“It felt cool because I haven’t played tennis in a year on a team,” Hull said.

“Next fall season I’m hoping we can finally get to regionals,” Mueller said. “most of our team is juniors, so next year there will be seniors, and we will have to kick into gear if we’re going to get anywhere.”

During the Westwood JV tournament Nov. 15, senior Brooke Hull and freshman Bryson King advanced to the semifinals in girls and boys singles, respectively. Chelsea Daws finished second in the girls consolation bracket.
