At the community pep rally for the Vandegrift game, Tusday, Oct. 30, a giant paper mache viper was torn to pieces by student. Senior Sophia Schwab created the viper with a little help from a few other art students. It took about five hours to create the artwork.
“When the teacher asked the class who wanted to make it, I knew it would be a good opportunity to apply my talents toward a school-spirited project,” Schwab said. “It turned out to be a lot of fun.”
Schwab’s teacher, Cynthia Acevedo, looked up a picture of a viper for her, and the senior followed that picture to create a cardboard frame. From there, she paper mached the rest of the structure.
“At first I was really excited about it,” Schwab said. “I had a lot of ideas and I didn’t think it would take long, but when I actually got started, I realized it was a lot more work than I thought.”
