Seniors are already in full swing for their senior projects. With the AP students presenting in November, seniors are beginning to feel the heat.
“It’s a lot more stressful then I thought it would be,” senior Sarah Brown said. “It was difficult to write a mature paper. I have the ideas, but I don’t know how to develop them.”
The AP students are analyzing two novels they chose to read over the summer while the regular classes confront a social issue, find a solution and complete community service. Seniors then present their projects to teachers and fellow students.
“It’s a great benefit to gain such an in-depth knowledge of the books that the students select,” senior AP English teacher Amanda Thompson said. “It is paramount for the free response question 3 on the AP test. It gives you deep connections to the books. It helps you connect to the world and helps you to be able to see the world for the beauty that it is.”
AP English will present Nov. 7 after school while on-level English classes will present during Advocate, Nov. 13 and 14.
