House of Torment Review

House of Torment

The House of Torment this year is worth the $25 general admission. All of the houses have a Mayan, post-apocalyptic theme. The lines get longer the later into the night you get, but to make it less agonizing, the House of Torment hired a crew of dancers to dress up like zombies and do 10 to 15 dances every 20 minutes.

The first house is called “The Awakening,” and there were a lot of unexpected sounds and monsters. It took about five minutes to get through this horrific house. There was this one room that was tilted like you were walking on the deck of a rocking ship, and inside was a werewolf, jumping along the bar and howling in your face. This room was by far one of the scariest in this house.

The second house,” Cursed the Howling,” had a heavy Mayan theme, and was more loud than scary. It had a scary feel to it, but it was louder than it was scary. It felt like they knew it wasn’t that scary so to compensate they created noise. Once you got through the first two rooms, there was a long hallway and in this hallway with a man lurking in the shadows of the ceiling. This creeper swung down on a zip-line screaming and shouting.

The third house is called “The Slaughterhouse,” and this was the best house considering how fast it went. This house used less loud noises and more gory props and monsters. They had two guys with chainsaws, heads hanging from the ceiling, strobe lights and music. The light effects and costumes were amazing. It kept getting better and better as you kept going. –Chase Morris & Kristin Nicol
