The safety of their children is every parent’s main concern, especially when walking up to stranger’s homes and asking for small, consumable sweets at night.
The third annual Trunk ‘r Treat this Saturday provides a safe and free option for parents to bring their children to celebrate Halloween. Different clubs and organizations will participate in the event, decorating “trunks” and tailgates to set up a safe area for kids to have fun in their costumes and trick or treat.
“It’s important that clubs participate in order to give back to our community and make a difference in children’s lives, and be able to provide children with a safe trick-or-treating,” senior Habitat for Humanity member Kailee Synder said.
The clubs will set up in the parking lot with themed stations and members dressing up in costumes. Several will also offer games for the children to play.
“I’m excited to see all the cool costumes and to get to hand out candy,” junior Tracy Corbin said. “I also look forward to spending time with all of my club friends.”
Interaction between the school’s clubs and the community is a fundamental part of Trunk ‘r Treat.
“We have interesting ideas and we hope to make a splash,” Latin club sponsor Kate Wofford said. “We hope to get more recognition from the school and community.”
Trunk ‘r Treat begins at 7 p.m. Saturday in the front parking lot.
