Pumpkin treat reviews

Pumpkin Muffin
Einstein Bagels
1465 East Whitestone Blvd.
Cedar Park, Texas 78613
(512) 259-3985

The Pumpkin Muffin with cream cheese frosting at Einstein Bagels was delectable.  When I first got the muffin, the amazing pumpkin aroma was overwhelming – in a good way, of course.  Just looking at the muffin, it was beautiful. When I bit into it, I was so surprised, it was extremely moist. The pumpkin flavor seriously made it seem like they took a pumpkin and somehow transformed it into a muffin. With the color and taste reminding me of fall, this definitely is my favorite seasonal treat. I will definitely be going back for more very soon. –Bridget O’Malley

Pumpkin Pancakes
IHOP
800 East Whitestone Blvd.
CEDAR PARK, TX 78613-9056
(512) 260-8880

I went to IHOP and ordered the Pumpkin pancakes for $8. I was a little apprehensive at first, worrying about how pumpkin was going to mix with pancakes, but I was pleasantly surprised. The pancakes were delicious, and as I took my first bite I realized that all my fears had been for nothing. The pancakes were warm and fluffy with the taste of pumpkin pie. They managed to combine the best of both worlds, the texture of the pancake mixed with the spice of the pumpkin. The pumpkin, however, was not too over-powering, as most pumpkin favoring can be. It mixed perfectly with the old fashioned syrup. –Shelly Spencer

Pumpkin Concrete
Shakes Frozen Custard
2031 Cypress Creek Road
Cedar Park, Texas 78613
(512) 257-7941

No, not like concrete used in construction. Concrete is basically a mix of ice cream and a shake, not as thick as ice cream, but thicker than a shake. I normally don’t like anything pumpkin flavored, except pumpkin pie which worked out in my favor because the pumpkin concrete tasted just like pumpkin pie, only in ice cream form. It had a great flavor and great texture, I actually liked it more than ice cream. You can bet that I’m going back and getting another one. – Nick Hage

Grandma’s Pumpkin Pie
Froyoz
700 E. Whitestone Blvd., Suite 100
Cedar Park, Texas 78613
(512)528-5554

Grandma’s Pumpkin Pie at Froyoz was surprisingly good. Normally, when people try to recreate the delicious taste of pumpkin, they fail and it becomes this nasty, bitter goop. But when the yogurt hit my taste buds, I was immediately pleased. It was smooth, creamy and definitely met my five-star standards. If I had to compare the taste to anything, it would mostly remind me of the filling of a freshly baked pumpkin pie…if it was cold…and yogurt. My favorite toppings for the Grandma’s Pumpkin Pie were crumbled Reese’s with hot fudge mixed in with a small amount of Dulce De Leche yogurt on the side. –Joe Amell

Pumpkin Spice Bundtlette
Nothing Bundt Cakes
1665 E. Whitestone Blvd., #S-170
Cedar Park, Texas 78613
(512) 986-7453

Nothing Bundt Cakes seasonal Pumpkin Spice Bundtlette was, well seasonal. I literally smelled it because I wanted to know what fall smelled like; now I know, and it smells a lot like gingerbread. As usual, the icing was amazing and almost made it not matter what the cake tasted like. The cake itself tasted sort of like gingerbread, which isn’t bad—don’t get me wrong, but it’s not pumpkin. As far as pumpkin goes, this definitely fell short and off the mark. The cake was a little bland, but at least it was spongy and moist. As far as a seasonal dessert, it was delicious and definitely put me in the mood to drink hot chocolate with it.  If you’re looking for fall flavor, choose this cake; otherwise choose another flavor because the icing is still delicious. –Rachel Sloan

Pumpkin White Chocolate
Gigi’s Cupcakes
1335 E. Whitestone Blvd., Suite J200
Cedar Park, Texas 78613
(512) 528-5164

I know that the cupcakes from Gigi’s have a reputation for being about 75 percent topping,  but the Pumpkin White Chocolate cupcake literally had so much cream cheese frosting that I could barely taste the white chocolate and pumpkin. However, when I could get past the overly-generous icing and actually got to the cake, I found what may have been the most amazing spicy-sweet goodness my palette ever encountered; it was perfectly moist, not too sweet (unlike the frosting) and it had chunks of white chocolate in it. I’m definitely having this again, although next time I’m probably just going to scoop most of the icing off. -Kayla Peterson

Pumpkin Latte
1101 C-Bar Ranch Trail
Cedar Park, Texas
(512) 456-2933

Anything Starbucks is basically amazing, so when I heard that there was a Pumpkin Latte I just had to have it. When I took my first sip there wasn’t a hint of pumpkin flavor at all. It just tasted like the normal latte, although very delicious, that they serve regularly. However, after a couple of more sips the cinnamon and cream on top started to mix in, creating a much more holiday feel to the drink. About half way through the drink, the pumpkin became stronger and could actually be tasted. Overall, it was a good latte for only $3.75, but not a very good pumpkin drink. –Stephanie Hofmann
