With the addition of late-running tutorial buses, school is providing a needed service for students.
Tutorial buses are one of the greatest achievements brought to our campus. For years students have complained and made excuses about how they can’t make it to tutorials because they don’t have a way to get home.
This problem finally has a solution – late-running buses. The implementation of this new bus system is much needed for the student body. This was more than proved by the amount of students who flocked to the late buses holding passes signed from their teachers that granted them access to this much needed service.
Before the new bus system, students who had no ride because their parents were unavailable relied strictly on school transportation. The morning buses do not arrive with enough time for the students to get help before school and the afterschool buses leave within 15 minutes after school ends. This gives the students no time to come to tutorials. By offering them a late bus option, students are now able to meet with their teachers and get the help they need in time to pass their classes.
While the buses won’t run every week, they will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays the last two weeks of each six weeks, a critical time to improve grades. And while the buses cost $400 per run, the cost is well worth the rate of return.
This new system will lighten the stress of students and will inevitably lead to a higher passing rate. The APs said it best when they said that they believe if the late buses are offered students will use them. These new buses are a welcome change and should continue as long as it is needed by the students.
