Art Club
Sponsor: Brittany Acosta
Meets: Every other Monday, room 6201
Known for: Murals on campus, and in town.
Why you should join: “It’s fun because you get to be artsy and creative, and you get in your hours.” –Emily Pace, 11

 

 

C2
Sponsors: Jamie Maples, Maggie McGrew and Kate Wofford
Meets: Meets with Student Council
Known for: Promoting kindness and discouraging bullying, Kindness Week, yellow smiley t-shirt.
Why you should join: “It’s a really positive group and it’s a really good way to get rid of bullying. The bigger the club, the better it will be.” –Gabby Carpenter, 12.

Color Guard Club
Sponsor: Kat Gilley and Lee Crochet
Meets: Every Monday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Band Hall
Known for: In their inaugural year, the club hopes to give members a chance to experience Color Guard without having to be committed to it fully.
Why you should join: “It’s a lot of fun and you get to learn how to spin. It really helps with your balance. And it gives them a headstart if they want to join Winter Guard, and it gets them caught up with the rest of us so we can do fancier stuff.” –Hannah Wilhite, 11

 

 

DECA
Sponsor: Vanita Couthino
Meets: Before school twice a month, room 2419
Known for: Competing in business and marketing competitions.
Why you should join: “It’s a fun business and marketing club where you can go to competitions in other cities and it looks good on college applications. Plus, you can get scholarships for being in DECA.” –Andrew Williams, 12

FCA
Sponsor: Michael Hjort
Meets: Every other Wednesday 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and every other Friday 8:15 a.m. – 8:35 a.m.
Known for: Fields of Faith, Hockey night with the Cedar Park Stars and a spring lock-in.
Why you should join: “FCA is a great place to come together and have fellowship with other believers.”

FCCLA
Sponsor: Jessica Thailing, Jessica Walker and Megan Wolske
Meets: Twice a month, room 6207
Known for: Competitions, baby-sitting nights, breakfast taco sales.
Why you should join: “Joining FCCLA has been one of the best things I have done for myself and I believe everyone else who becomes part of it will feel the same way.” –Kennedy Brown, 11

 

 

FFA
Sponsor: Shannon Houy and Shelly Salazar
Meets: Once a month, library
Known for: All types of public speaking, agriculture sales, marketing plans, job interviews, food tech competitions, judging contests. The students also raise animals at the Ag barn.
Why you should join: “It’s a great experience to get to learn about animals.” –Kayla Demar, 11

 

 

Friends of the Library
Sponsors: Chin Arritola and Celeste Brown
Meets: Every Tuesday, library
Known for: Love of literature, coffee/hot chocolate day, and annual library conference.
Why you should join: “The library is the best place to check out books, hang out with Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Arritola and use computers.” -Jessica Balderas, 12

 

 

Habitat for Humanity
Sponsor: Daniel High and Leah Randall
Meets: Last Thursday of every month, room 3011
Known for: Building houses, Shack-A-Thon.
Why you should join: “We are all going to come together and get involved in the community. I think that’s really important for high school kids.” –Trevor Riek, 12

 

 

Key Club
Sponsor: Mike Hilsabeck
Meets: Before school twice a month on Thursday, room 2216
Known for: Helping the community by volunteering.
Why you should join: “People should join so they can get volunteer hours and improve their self-awareness of the community.” –Brandy Giordano, 12

 

 

Raiders ‘Round the World
Sponsor: Teddie Hytrek
Meets: Every Month in the Lecture Hall
Known for: Traveling to Europe in the summer.
Why you should join: “It’s a nice experience and you might not get to go to those places when you’re older.” –Amanda Slaton, 11

 

 

RRADD
Sponsor: Janet Howard
Meets: First and third Tuesdays after school and first and third Wednesdays before school, room 2413
Known for: Promoting Red Ribbon Week and student health and wellness.
Why you should join: “I joined because I wanted to help people make the right decisions and I hate to see people throw away their futures.” –Jessie Reyes, 10    

 

Spanish Club
Sponsor: Catherine Hawes, Jaime Luna and Angie Rodea
Meets: Every other Monday, room 2210
Known for: In their first year, this club will celebrate the Spanish language and culture and hopes to have food days and other culture-related events.
Why you should join: “I was in Spanish Club at Cedar Park and it was a lot of fun. We have a big gathering at the end of the year.” –Taylor Nichols, 12

Student Council
Sponsor: Keli McCabe
Meets: Before and after school in the library
Known for: The gift exchange before varsity football games, planning Homecoming spirt days and the dance, and prom.
Why you should join: “It’s really going to be a step up from last year. We want to make a stronger foundation for the future.” -Annie Wingard, 12

German
Sponsor: William Johnson
Meets: On Monday or Wednesdays, Room 2220.
Known For: Although this is their first year, the members already have Sprachfest and Wurstfest to look forward to.
Why you should join: “It’s great for people who have such an interest in German culture, because we can all share that general interest.” –Sophia Schwab, 12
