The first prom with seniors will be May 12, from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Doubletree Hotel in Austin. Tickets are $35 per person and $60 for a couple. Tickets purchased after Monday, May 7 will be $40 per person and no tickets will be sold at the door.
“I’m expecting prom to be bigger than Homecoming, because people put so much more effort into getting ready,” junior Caitlin Topham said. “Also, since it’s just juniors and seniors, I think it will be more fun and exclusive compared to Homecoming which everyone goes to.”
Prom is planned by the juniors in Student Council for the seniors that year. StuCo members looked through prom look books and decided on the theme “A Night in Vegas.” To go with the theme, there will be slot machines, roulette tables and poker. The band Tippus will also play in a separate, adjoining room.
“We chose ‘A Night in Vegas’ because the seniors wanted something more to do than just dance,” StuCo junior Lauren Hammond said. “I feel like it’s going to be great for them since it’s what they wanted.”
Juniors or seniors who wish to bring a date from another school must obtain a guest pass from the Assistant Principal’s office. The guest pass must be signed by the guest, parent and the guest’s assistant principal and must be returned for approval prior to purchasing tickets. Guests must be under 21 years old, the maximum age is 20, and middle school students are not allowed.
