One-Act Play cast wins three awards at district

The Sweeney Todd cast competed in the UIL One-Act Play district competition, April 5, winning three individual awards. After more than two months of weekly rehearsals, the cast traveled to Lake Travis High School and performed for a judge, competing against six other schools in the district.

“The competition was really hard because of the crazy amount of schools there,” senior Zachary Felice said. “So we had a lot of really talented people to compete with.”

Senior Danielle Davis was named to the All-Star Cast, junior Leslie Tate received Honorable mention All-Star Cast and junior Mason Nichols received the All-Star Technician Award.

“It was fantastic to feel like all my hard work paid off,” Tate said. “We spent so long on that show it was great to see that people liked it.”

Despite not advancing, director Stephanie Smith was happy with the cast’s performance.

“I am incredibly proud because it was the biggest challenge I’ve ever given students,” Smith said. “They met and exceeded my expectations.”
