This year’s Rouse Scholars were honored April 4 in the auditorium. Scholars are students who maintain an A average in their Spring or Fall 2011 semesters.
“It was really nice seeing everyone being honored,” junior Brandy Giordano said. “I felt like I really achieved something great.”
The freshman class attended a ceremony at 9 a.m. where 87 freshmen were honored. The students had cake and punch immediately afterward.
“I felt the ceremony was exciting and inspiring,” freshman Shannon Gallagher said. “I was proud to be a scholar.”
The sophomore class scholars consisted of 69 students who attended a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Sophomores were rewarded with a chance to run the ropes course, April 10 or 17.
“Being honored made me feel very proud,” sophomore Chandler Prevatt said. “The speaker’s [Charley Rouse] speech was very powerful and very inspiring.”
The senior and junior classes attended a combined ceremony at 11:30 a.m with 71 juniors and 48 seniors honored. Juniors had the opportunity to UTSA, April 16 and senior honorees will go to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, May 23.
“It all gave me a sense of accomplishment,” senior Andrew Thomas said. “It was nice being rewarded for actually trying in school.”
