Editor Note: This is one of six stories about obsessions students and faculty have.
TOMS are one of many new trends that have become popular in the last few years. Whether it’s for the style, the cause, or simply the comfortableness of it, these canvas shoes have spread like wildfire.
While most people have one or two pairs, senior Emily Chabert goes above and beyond the norm with a grand total of 22 pairs.
“They’re comfortable, cute and they go with everything,” Chabert said. “It’s nice knowing whenever I buy a pair I know I’m buying one for a kid in need out there.”
TOMS started the One-for-One Movement; for every pair they sell they give a pair to a child in need. Senior Okairi Torres also has contributed to the cause, she owns nine pairs.
“They’re very comfortable and go with the style of clothing that I wear,” Torres said. “I think it’s really nice how they do one-for-one, and I know that the quality that they give me is really good, so I know it’s probably good for the kids, too.”
