This year the theatre department will perform Sweeney Todd for One-Act Play. This show is about barber Sweeney Todd, played by Joshua Pagan, who kills a series of people to avenge the death of his wife. The show has a cast of 12 with three alternates and will compete at the district competition April 4-5.
“I think the play will do very well,” sophomore Austin Thompson said. “I believe everyone has grown closer together working as a team and I believe everyone put all of their energy into making sure the play reaches its full potential.”
Last year the cast won the Alternate Cast award, so hopes are high for the competition this year. The cast is not allowed to exceed a practice time of eight hours a week, but will attend two workshops to help them prepare for their roles.
“I feel the team is a lot tighter, like a good clock,” senior Zackary Short said. “We have common goals we are each working a lot harder this year. Everyone’s script is a hurricane with notes and everyone is doing more than their fair share.”
