Audio Synthesis is fourth incarnation of band

With five different rosters and four name changes, the garage band, Audio Synthesis, has changed a lot since its creation.

“We’ve had the band for four years, but we never really did anything with it until the talent show last year,” sophomore Sterling Stetar said.

Stetar, who is the lead guitarist and sings backup vocals, started learning how to play the guitar when he was in third grade.

“I am mostly self taught and only recently started getting lessons,” Stetar said.

Stetar and sophomore Joe Amell are the only  founding members that are still part of the band. Amell, the band’s bassist, started playing in eighth grade.

“We had a bass at home, so I picked it up,” Amell said. “I learned the basics from Sterling and I taught myself the rest.”

The band also includes rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist Sean Harshaw and drummer John Smith. But they’re still searching for one vital member – a lead vocalist.

“Singers are few and far between,” Amell said. “We’re in the between.”
