Junior Dons Hair Net for Cafeteria Worker

Cook, serve food, clean, repeat. Imagine doing this every day, for more than 1800 students. It’s not the most fun job, or the easiest, but it’s a job that has to be done. When I went to work in the cafeteria I got a glimpse of what these ladies do every day, and its hard work.

When I got there the first thing they had me do was put on a hair net. Yes, I wore it. Then they had me get the food out of the ovens and serve the food in the snack line.

After lunch had ended I went to clean up the condiment station which was disgusting. Almost as if kids had thrown ketchup all over it. And then I went to go and help in the store room moving boxes and cleaning up there.

All in all, it was hard work and while it was fun at the time, I cannot imagine doing it every day. By far the best part though was the awkward glances from strangers and the funny looks friends would give.

The ladies were all very nice and very friendly and it was an amazing experience. Next time you see a lunch lady, thank them for all their hard work.
