The first-ever Thespian Festival will be held at Vista Ridge High School, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. Each high school from the district will send performers to fill a 15-minute time slot. Admission is $5 per person and proceeds will benefit students in each fine arts program.
“It’s rare that we all come together not to compete,” theatre director Stephanie Smith said. “But we are really coming together to celebrate performance and our love of theatre.”
The theatre department is sending two duets and two monologues to perform. One of the duets won second place at the Renaissance Festival. Junior Nick Hage and senior Dani Davis performed a scene from Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare.
“I’m really proud of us,” Davis said. “We couldn’t have done it without Mrs. Smith and Ms. Bussear.”
