The theatre department kicks off their season Thursday. The fall show, Zap! features seven shows in one: a New York comedy in the ‘60s, a Shakespeare play, a Russian drama, a southern drama, an English mystery, a performing arts monologue and an avant-garde piece.
“I’m excited about the huge challenges for tech because everything has to be spot on,” junior James Amell said. “Otherwise, it won’t come together.”
The second show is Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults.
“It’s a really fun show and it’s a challenge, but definitely worth it,” junior Stephanie Smith said. “It’s crazy awesome.”
In addition to the fall play, AP Theatre students will compete Nov. 2 at the Texas Renaissance Festival Performance Contest. The class will enter three monologues, two duet scenes, and a one-act play for the competition.
“I’m really excited about Ren-Fest because there are really interesting people who sell you pickles and give you artichokes and fairy kisses,” junior Christina Gatti said. “It’s a really fun place to be because of the atmosphere.”
