Approximately 200 items are brought to the lost and found every year and sometimes, valuable items such as phones and airpods are discarded when unclaimed.
There are a lot of water bottles that go unclaimed along with technology and clothes. The lost and found is a great source to visit when claiming lost items. Yet, people don’t utilize it to its max capability.
Students who have lost an item or can’t find it in their class should often remember to use the lost and found. Making the lost and found easily accessible helps students and faculty find what they are looking for without any hassle.
A common misconception is that there is only one lost and found in the assistant principals office. However, that is not true; there is a lost one found in the cafeteria as well along with one in the gym.
Unfortunately, not every lost item makes it to the lost and found which decreases its convenience. Students may go to the lost and found in hopes to retrieve their lost items but end up leaving empty handed.
It is crucial to bring an item to the lost and found if you find it in the hallways or somewhere outside of the classroom regardless of its value.
While some students make an effort to reclaim their items, some don’t at all even if it’s a big thing. There was a phone that was turned in last week and still hasn’t been claimed.
As of Oct 22. approximately eight phones have remained unclaimed in the lost and found along with three pairs of airpods. It is important that students keep up with such items because they will be discarded at the end of each school year.
Although numerous water bottles were found in the lost and found, this does not include the stack of lost water bottles in the cafeteria or class rooms. If you’ve lost an item at school, it is strongly advised to look through the lost and found.
